We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and personable candidate who can add value to our Human Resources Division. This full level professional administrative position will serve as the support of the Department's human resources program in the areas of recruitment, benefits and records management.The selected candidate will have an opportunity to work directly and collaboratively with all members of the DPW&T Human Resources Team. This is a Limited Term Grant Funded position. About the Agency The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is responsible for nearly 2,000 miles of County-maintained roadways that range from rural to urban classifications. The transportation infrastructure includes 900 bridges, as well as shoulders, sidewalks, curbs/gutters, stormwater management facilities, driveway aprons and nearly 3,000 acres of grassy area -- all of which are maintained by staff of the Department. DPW&T's workforce keeps the County's various services moving by performing a myriad of activities which include removing snow and ice from County-maintained roadways, upgrading traffic signals, installing streetlights, clearing fallen trees, unclogging drainage inlets and maintaining stormwater management facilities, as well as performing roadway repairs ranging from potholes and sidewalk trip hazards to bridge repairs and resurfacing projects and more.
Examples of Work Provide alternate front desk support for the Human Resources Division Assist in preparing employment packages and assist in the preparation of orientation materials. Supports the Recruitment and Staffing team with seasonal staffing needs to include phone screens, scheduling and onboarding seasonal hires Provides support for Acting/Detail Pay requests Assist and support processing, coordination and monitoring of FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) requests Maintain accurate records and files in accordance with laws and regulations. Provides program administration for training and development requests Assists in the preparation of ad-hoc reports using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and graphic designing tools within the MS Office Suite Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Liberal Arts, one of the Social Sciences, or Public or Business Administration or field closely related to assignment/functional area. Experience:
One (1) year of secretarial and general clerical work experience or related functional area.
An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
