The LA DOTD is a diverse organization with approximately 4,000 employees state-wide. The position functions as a Maintenance Clerk in a Districtwide or Parish-wide Maintenance Office that requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision. The incumbent should use independent judgment to handle non-routine situations and must have extensive knowledge of DOTD work codes and the roadway system for accurate processing and reporting. Confidential employee files must be maintained, and participation in DOTD training and continuing education is required. While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, manuals, and directives. An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies: Communicating Effectively : The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas. Following Policies and Procedures : The ability to comply with policies and procedures of the organization as well as State Civil Service rules, and all applicable federal and state laws. Making Accurate Judgements : The ability to form an opinion objectively and decisively based on relevant information and in accordance with established standards. Minimum Qualifications: Three years of experience in administrative services. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience. Job Duties and Other Information: Prepares and edits Daily Work Reports for the maintenance unit, documenting materials, equipment, and man hours in various systems. Ensures details like location and documentation are accurate. Checks employee work hours and manages leave records. Generates payroll reports, audits attendance, and prepares adjustment forms for errors. Inputs fuel and oil data into SAP and monitors usage for equipment. Analyzes data for reports. Prepares complex reports for the Parish Maintenance Specialist, handles reimbursements for state property damage, and compiles vital information for district managers, especially regarding FEMA and FHWA after disasters. Makes decisions based on public requests and acts as a contact between local government, utility companies, and others. They respond to road hazards and public inquiries, handle complaints about various issues, route them appropriately, and maintain Loss Prevention files for audits.
