About the Role

We’re looking for a talented, business-minded attorney to join Metronome as our first in-house Legal Counsel. Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, you will have broad responsibility across commercial, privacy, and corporate matters, with a primary focus on supporting our go-to-market teams. You’ll partner closely with Sales, Finance, Security, and Product to structure and negotiate high-value customer agreements, streamline deal processes, and ensure compliance with evolving privacy and data protection frameworks. This is a unique opportunity to build alongside a rapidly scaling infrastructure company. You’ll operate as a true generalist: drafting and negotiating contracts, managing privacy obligations, advising on product and partnership initiatives, and setting up the foundational systems that will allow the legal function to scale. The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment where judgment, precision, and speed are equally important. What You\'ll Do

Own the lifecycle of revenue contracts: structure, draft, and negotiate enterprise SaaS agreements, order forms, DPAs, SLAs, SOWs, partner and reseller agreements, and NDAs. Lead deal desk. Create playbooks, fallback positions, and templates that compress cycle time while maintaining risk posture. Drive privacy and data governance. Operationalize GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and global privacy requirements in our products and processes, including DPAs, data mapping, vendor diligence, and incident response in partnership with Security. Build the function. Stand up lightweight processes, cadences, and tooling. Educate teams on playbooks and negotiation strategy. Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Security, Finance, and Customer Success to close complex enterprise deals quickly while protecting long-term interests. Support corporate work. Partner on entity maintenance, board consents, cap table mechanics, and routine compliance. Pragmatic risk management in service of speed and customer trust. Clear writing, strong frameworks, and consistent positions that help Sales win. Collaboration without ego. Impact You\'ll Have

Accelerate revenue growth by enabling the Sales team to close faster with clean, scalable playbooks and crisp negotiation support. Shape the legal function from day one by helping define contracting frameworks, risk tolerances, and operational cadence alongside the Head of Legal. Strengthen customer trust through world-class privacy and data governance practices that meet enterprise standards and unlock large-scale deals. Guide strategic decisions by providing practical, business-minded legal advice to leadership on partnerships, product initiatives, and corporate matters. Lay the foundation for scale by introducing lightweight processes, templates, and systems that make the company faster today and sustainable tomorrow. Qualifications

4+ years of post-JD experience in sophisticated commercial and technology transactions at a top law firm, in-house at a high-growth SaaS or infra company, or a mix of both. Record of academic and professional excellence and rigorous training that shows up in your drafting, issue-spotting, and negotiation outcomes. Expert command of enterprise SaaS contracting, including data privacy, security addenda, IP, indemnities, and liability allocation. Fluency with privacy frameworks and security standards relevant to B2B SaaS (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, processor obligations, SOC 2, ISO 27001). Business athlete mindset: move quickly, prioritize well, sweat details, and communicate crisply with executives and customers. High ownership and comfort as the first in-house counsel building for scale. Bonus
