Overview

Dental Assistant - Prosthodontist (Prosth) position. The Prosthodontist Dental Assistant works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment, ready patients for procedures, and assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments, holding suction, and anticipating needs. Some responsibilities include removing sutures, processing x-rays, and taking oral impressions used to fit crowns.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist
  • Provide chair-side assistance and support during dental examinations and treatments
  • Prepare patients for treatment and obtain dental records
  • Hand instruments and materials to dentists and assist with suction
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; prepare trays for procedures; instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care
  • Prepare materials for impressions and restorations; take dental x‑rays and process x-ray film as directed
  • Assist in radiological procedures as directed
  • Perform office duties as needed (scheduling, confirming appointments, receiving patients, maintaining treatment records, handling billing and payments, ordering supplies)
  • Assist in specialty areas such as oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, and dental implantology
  • Support the hygienist with room setup, tray cleaning, and cleanup
  • Help track inventory of prosthetic supplies and organize storage
  • Support radiographic needs of the Patient Education Consultants, Oral Surgeon, and Hygienists

Working Conditions

  • Work in a well-lighted, clean environment near the dental chair
  • Wear gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to protect patients and staff
  • Follow safety procedures to minimize risks associated with x-ray usage

Experience

  • Certified as a Dental Assistant by the ADA
  • Two years of Dental Assistant experience
  • Dental implant experience is desired
  • Reliable, team‑oriented, with good manual dexterity
  • Current CPR certification

Physical Requirements

  • Work in an office environment; frequent movement around the office
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; stand for extended periods
  • Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity to use instruments in the mouth

Compensation And Benefits

The anticipated pay range is $22.00 - $24.00 per hour.
