Overview
We are seeking a qualified IT Desktop Engineer to support workstations and related software applications. The IT Desktop Engineer is expected to deliver excellent customer service, exhibit leadership competencies, and lead through positive influence.
Responsibilities
- Explain technical IT terminologies and concepts of software development tools to users and apply those concepts to resolve issues
- Manage physical to virtual workstations
- Provisioning and de-provisioning users for tool access; manage adding/removing users to project resources
- Create CRQs in Remedy for errors/issues/failures
- Hold and facilitate meetings with internal and client teams to discuss requirements for upgrading servers and applications
- Create CRQs in Remedy for appropriate network, Unix, or other teams providing support
- Manage binaries for IDEs or associated components of the IDEs for Git development; familiarity with Git development tools
- Understand, troubleshoot, and resolve HP and UFT application and user issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve subscriptions for Windows and Linux server licenses and renewals
- Troubleshoot and resolve Unix (RHEL and Ubuntu) issues/failures
- Communicate tool failures to end users/managers and offer workarounds or ETAs
- Collaborate with all teams on the project to support developer workstations and tools
- Write training/installation/process documents for users as needed
- Support annual desktop and system audits
- Plan, test, and implement upgrades to Unix, Windows, and MySQL databases
- Plan, test, and implement software fix pack upgrades to desktop and server OS; include project plans and cross-team coordination
- Plan, test, implement, and back up MySQL databases with appropriate communication and resources
- Support Windows 11 upgrades and imaging tools
- Conduct inventory assessments of servers, desktops, laptops, workstations, and network appliances
- Identify continuous improvements in quality and process management
- Provide root cause analysis and break-fix for software tools
- Manage email distribution lists and internal project Wikis
Qualifications
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows desktops, software, and applications
- Experience with WAN/LAN networks and printers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment; self-directed and fast learner
- Comfortable supporting modern and legacy systems to support a large enterprise development team
- Ability to provide on-call support, including weekend rotations
