Job Description and Duties: Under the general direction of a Research Data Manager, the Research Data Analyst II (RDAII) is a team member responsible for a variety of tasks associated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The incumbent will research criteria and perform research work as it relates to the Big Sur Coast Highway Management Plan. The incumbent is responsible for research and analysis relative to day-to-day operation of the GIS Branch. The general concentration of duties involve coastal management data, statistical analysis, cartographic design and spatial database management. This is a technical position that requires the incumbent to work within the scope and parameters of research criteria and perform research work. The RDAII also works capturing data, developing database schema, and applying quality control procedures for local and enterprise databases.
Eligibility and hiring process: Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Research Data Analyst II exam. If you are new to state civil services, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. See the posting for application instructions and contacts.
Work Location and Conditions: Position located at 50 Higuera Street, San Luis Obispo, CA. The position may require travel to other office buildings and field locations. Telework may be eligible at the Department’s discretion. In-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. A valid driver’s license is required to operate a State owned, leased, or personal vehicle. The environment is fast-paced and may require travel within the state.
Minimum Qualifications and Application Details

Salary and Benefits
