Overview
Our client is seeking a seasoned HR Director with a strong background in manufacturing, oil & gas, or a related industry. This individual must bring 10+ years of broad-based HR Generalist experience with a proven ability to support both field operations and corporate environments. The HR Director will provide strategic and hands-on leadership across all areas of HR, including talent management, employee relations, compliance, and benefits oversight. This is a 100% onsite role based in North Houston with regional travel across several states.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Leadership: Partner with leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives across field and corporate operations; serve as a trusted advisor on workforce planning, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.
- Employee Relations & Talent Management: Lead employee relations initiatives, address workplace concerns, investigations, conflict resolution; drive talent acquisition, performance management, and succession planning; oversee employee engagement programs.
- Compliance & HR Policies: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws; oversee HR compliance audits including 401(k) auditing and required filings; develop and update HR policies, handbooks, and procedures; oversee benefit programs with brokers/vendors; partner with Finance and external auditors on compliance and reporting.
- Field & Regional Support: Provide HR support for regional field operations, ensuring consistency in employee relations, compliance, and training; travel to various sites to engage with employees and leadership teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Industry experience in manufacturing, oil & gas, or related industrial sectors.
- Proven success supporting both corporate and field operations.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws with ability to stay ahead of regulatory changes.
- Experience with talent management, employee relations, HR compliance, and benefits/401(k) auditing.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to travel regionally across several states as required.
