Job Title: Dental Assistant
Department: James | 5 West, Head and Neck Clinic
Allied Health professionals (distinct from medicine, pharmacy and nursing) deliver health or related services using scientific principles and evidence-based practice for the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic diseases; promote disease prevention and wellness for optimum health; and apply administration and management skills to support health care systems in a variety of settings. This job function includes the allied areas of dentistry, neurodiagnostic, polysomnography, ophthalmology, optometry, perfusion, and respiratory.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient comfort and demonstrate good oral hygiene techniques.
- Sterilize dental instruments; provide chair-side dental assisting services; take radiographs; assist with laser-based treatments; prepare trays.
- Pre-authorization, ABN and scheduling; maintain quality outcome indicators; take patient blood pressure and pulse; provide patients with follow-up instructions for surgery or other oral procedures and infection control; recover patients from anesthesia and remove sutures.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be preferred.
- Radiographer license from the Ohio State Dental Board.
- 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
