The Opportunity

As our IT Network Specialist, you'll be a key part of our IT team, helping to keep our company connected and productive. You'll be responsible for the health and performance of our network while also serving as a trusted technical resource for the entire organization. You’ll work with various technologies, from network hardware to A/V systems, and help us ensure all our employees have the tools they need to succeed.

90 Days at Flock

The First 30 Days

  • Onboard & Orient: Complete your initial onboarding, meet your team members, and get acquainted with our company culture and key stakeholders across different departments.
  • Network Mapping: Begin to familiarize yourself with our current network topology, key systems, and existing documentation. This includes understanding our core routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Tool Familiarity: Get hands-on with our network monitoring tools, ticketing system, and other IT management platforms.
  • Shadow & Learn: Shadow team members on routine network maintenance tasks and participate in troubleshooting sessions to understand common issues and resolutions.
  • Initial Contributions: Start contributing to basic network support requests, guided by team members.

The First 60 Days

  • Independent Troubleshooting: Independently diagnose and resolve more complex network issues, demonstrating your problem-solving skills.
  • Security Review: Participate in a review of our current network security configurations and identify potential areas for enhancement in partnership with the Security team.
  • Documentation Contribution: Begin updating and improving existing network documentation, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Project Involvement: Take ownership of smaller network-related projects or significant tasks within a larger project, such as configuring new network devices or implementing minor network changes.
  • Collaboration: Actively engage with other IT teams and department leads to understand their specific network needs and challenges.

90 Days & Beyond

  • Lead Initiatives: Take the lead on designing and implementing significant network improvements or new system integrations, from planning to execution.
  • Proactive Monitoring & Optimization: Establish and refine proactive network monitoring strategies, identifying and addressing potential bottlenecks or vulnerabilities before they impact operations.
  • Strategic Input: Contribute to the long-term network strategy, researching and recommending new technologies, solutions, and best practices that align with our business goals.
  • Process Enhancement: Identify opportunities to improve IT processes and workflows related to network management, enhancing efficiency and employee experience.
  • Mentorship (Optional): Begin to share your expertise with other IT team members or assist in training internal stakeholders on network-related best practices.
  • Continuous Learning: Continuously expand your knowledge of emerging network technologies and security trends, applying them to enhance our infrastructure.

The Interview Process

We want our interview process to be a true reflection of our culture: transparent and collaborative. Throughout the interview process, your recruiter will guide you through the next steps and ensure you feel prepared every step of the way.

  1. Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are.

  2. The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.

  3. The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.

  4. The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.

  5. The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.

Salary & Equity

In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary between 86,000-110,000K as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
