Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Mold Maker to join our team in the injection plastic molding industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, repairing, and maintaining molds to support production needs. This role requires precision machining, troubleshooting skills, and a strong understanding of mold construction techniques to ensure high-quality plastic components. Pay: $26/hr- $42/hr Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Mold Construction & Maintenance Design, fabricate, assemble, and modify molds for injection molding using manual and CNC machining, EDM, and grinding equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on molds to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Troubleshoot mold-related issues such as flashing, short shots, or warpage and make necessary adjustments. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files to build molds to exact specifications. Machining & Tooling Operate and program CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines for mold component fabrication. Ensure tight tolerances and precision during machining and finishing processes. Work with various materials such as steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys for mold production. Quality Control & Process Improvement Inspect and test molds to ensure they meet dimensional and functional requirements. Identify and implement improvements in mold design, manufacturing efficiency, and process optimization. Maintain documentation for mold modifications, maintenance, and history tracking. Safety and Collaboration Work closely with engineers, production teams, and maintenance personnel to resolve mold-related issues. Follow all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company procedures when working with machinery and materials. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Job Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or apprenticeship in mold making, tool & die, or machining preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in mold making for injection plastic molding. Proficiency in CNC machining, EDM, CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, Mastercam, Cimatron, etc.). Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, and mold design principles. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Experience with hot runner systems, cooling channels, and venting techniques is a plus. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods. Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small tools, machine components, and molds. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection. Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access equipment and perform maintenance tasks. Good vision and color perception for inspecting parts and identifying any defects or abnormalities. Ability to work in temperature-controlled environments and withstand exposure to noise levels associated with manufacturing machinery.
