Set-up Machinist

Job description: CNC Setup Machinist – Swiss-Type & Multi-Axis Lathes We're looking for a hands-on CNC Setup Machinist who has experience setting up Swiss-type lathes and multi-tasking turning centers. Experience with CNC mills is a bonus, but the main focus will be on Swiss machines. What You'll Do: Set up Swiss CNC lathes (mainly Tsugami with Fanuc controls) for high-precision parts. Set up and fine-tune Okuma multi-axis lathes with OSP controls for complex jobs. Handle full machine setups – select tools, install fixtures, set offsets, and inspect first parts. Read and adjust G-code programs right at the machine. Work closely with programmers and operators to keep processes stable and accurate. Suggest and apply improvements for better setups, tooling, and cycle times. Help troubleshoot machine or setup problems to reduce downtime. Keep setup documentation updated and support operator training when needed. What You'll Need: 5+ years of CNC lathe setup experience (especially on Swiss and multi-tasking lathes). Experience with Tsugami, Okuma, or similar machines. Comfortable reading and editing G-code. Knowledge of Fanuc and OSP control systems. Good understanding of tooling, bar feeders, chip control, etc. Able to read blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and inspect parts. Experience working with tight tolerances in a high-mix, low-to-mid volume environment. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
