Summary: The System Associate Vice President (AVP), Middle Revenue Cycle will unify leadership across key middle revenue cycle functions—including coding, revenue integrity, HIM, CDM governance, research billing, provider education, and denials. This AVP will reduce revenue leakage, improve compliance, and standardize practices across the system, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with financial and quality goals. provides strategic, operational, and transformational leadership for key functions impacting coding, charge capture, compliance, and reimbursement across the health system. Areas of oversight include hospital and professional billing coding, revenue integrity, health information management (HIM), charge description master (CDM) governance, denial prevention and appeals, provider education, and research billing compliance. This leader ensures accurate and compliant documentation practices, optimized reimbursement, and alignment across clinical, financial, and compliance domains. The AVP plays a critical role in digital transformation and enterprise integration of middle revenue cycle functions in support of system financial performance and regulatory excellence. Other information: Required Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required Minimum 7–10 years of progressive leadership in healthcare revenue cycle, with direct oversight of coding, revenue integrity, and HIM functions Extensive knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, regulatory standards, and charge master governance Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex enterprise initiatives Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills Experience with Epic and enterprise health information systems Preferred Job Qualifications: Master’s degree or advanced credential preferred (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CCDS, CPMA) Experience in academic medical centers or integrated delivery networks Proven record of driving results in compliance, documentation integrity, and charge optimization Physical Demands: Primarily office-based or remote role with extended periods of computer use Occasional travel to system facilities for integration, education, and operational reviews Must be able to participate in team meetings, executive presentations, and collaborative sessions Competencies: Strategic Leadership: Aligns middle revenue cycle functions with enterprise goals Operational Excellence: Optimizes documentation, coding, and HIM for financial and compliance outcomes Compliance & Risk Management: Deep knowledge of regulatory and payer guidelines Communication: Collaborates effectively across clinical, financial, and operational domains Analytical Thinking: Uses data to identify improvement opportunities and drive results Change Management: Leads teams through transformation with clarity and structure Provider Engagement: Educates and partners with providers to enhance documentation quality Disclaimer: The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
