Position Description The Teen Center (TC) Program Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the day-to-day operations of the after-school and summer program for Jubilee Housing youth in grades 7-12. The TC Program Coordinator will report to the Director of Youth Services. This is a permanent, full-time position. Work hours are Mon–Thu, 11:30 am–7:30 pm. Fridays are virtual, with hours 9:00 am–5:00 pm. Afterschool program hours during the school year are 3:30–7:00 pm, Mon–Thu. Summer camp program hours are 8:30 am–3:30 pm (Mon–Thu) and 9:00 am–3:00 pm for the camp.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, oversee, and lead the development and implementation of out-of-school-time and summer programming for youth in 7th–12th grade.

Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate after-school and summer camp program schedule, events, and activities; manage logistics for field trips and enrichment activities that reinforce literacy, math, physical development, and social-emotional growth.

Create and maintain a safe, respectful, challenging, and inclusive environment.

Assist with outreach and communications for participant recruitment and retention.

Monitor and analyze program effectiveness, planning adjustments and problem-solving as issues arise.

Pre-plan weekly after-school and summer camp activities, lessons, and field trips.

Administer and collect student and parent surveys; maintain database input of participants, program activities, incidents, and referrals.

Complete program and grant-related reports as requested.

Maintain communication with staff about student needs and aspects of the after-school program.

Develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations.

Lead groups of youth in a safe, professional, and respectful manner.

Develop positive relationships with parents; provide training and support to volunteer tutors and mentors.

Support children's emotional, academic, and social development; implement individualized goal plans for participants.

Collaborate with the Youth Services team to adjust the program based on assessments and participant feedback.

Create and maintain individual files for youth and coordinate transitions within Jubilee Youth Services programs.

Engage families and school/college staff to develop college and career track programs and support youth participation.

Organize personal and professional development experiences that increase exposure to STEAM opportunities, college, and careers.

Support Jubilee Housing’s Jubilee to College Scholarship Program through promotion, applicant preparation, and administrative support.

Support new program initiatives impacting Jubilee Housing and partner organizations as directed by the Director of Youth Services and the Vice President of Programs.

Participate in the development of other Youth Services programs, including family programming and volunteer recruitment, training, and support.

Supervise and support the professional development of team members: Program Associate, Program Assistant, and interns.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Youth Services.

Qualifications

Commitment to supporting youth from low-income families/background.

BS/BA in Early Childhood Development, Youth Development, Education, Social Work, or related field.

Commitment to staff development and ongoing learning about trends in youth development.

Must undergo a comprehensive background check, including clearances for the National Sex Offender Registry, DC Child Protection Registry, and FBI checks.

Knowledgeable in developmentally appropriate classroom management for K-3rd grades.

At least five years of experience working with inner-city youth; preferably with early childhood participants.

Prior supervisory experience and demonstrable teamwork skills.

Willingness to work weekday late morning and evening hours for after-school programs (approx. 11 am–7 pm) and summer camps (early July through mid-August).
