Responsibilities Supervises, assesses, plans, coordinates, facilitates, and evaluates patient care and staff development; determines and maintains unit or program needs and standards using nursing process and evidence-based information. Assumes responsibility and accountability for incorporating the vision, values, mission, and critical goals of the organization into job performance. Assists the Clinical Director in the management of the units assigned staff and patient population; provides direct patient care as needed and collaborates with physicians in executing the medical plan of care. Maintains knowledge of stroke care requirements for RN staff responsible for stroke patients (stroke symptoms and warning signs; protocols and pathways; NIHSS; stroke alerts; quality indicators; patient education materials; educational requirements; stroke center resources). Participates in policy revisions, committees, goals and action planning related to the unit; and coordinates educational and professional activities as they relate to department needs. Regularly rounds with physicians, patients, or families to facilitate quality practice and improve patient experience; utilizes nursing process and evidence-based practice to provide care and evaluate the plan of care. Directs staff in the application of the nursing process; provides leadership to improve patient care and independent functioning among employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited NLN/CCNE institution. Legally licensed to work as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona. Stroke-specific education requirements per addendum. - Required

Experience

2 years Registered Nurse (RN) - Required 3 years Registered Nurse (RN) - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider - Required Must obtain certification in their respective area of expertise within 1 year of hire or promotion date for magnet standards - Required State Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse (Arizona or Compact State Licensure) - Required
