Overview

The HR Generalist at ubreakfix plays a critical role in ensuring our people operations run smoothly and effectively. This position supports employees and leaders across multiple state store locations by overseeing HR operations, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, benefits, employee relations, and day-to-day HR processes. The HR Generalist plays a hands-on role in attracting and hiring top talent, ensuring a seamless new hire experience, managing HR systems, and partnering closely with leaders to foster a positive and compliant workplace culture. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys wearing many hats, and is passionate about helping people grow. This is an on-site position. Responsibilities

HRIS & Employee Data Management

Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS (new hires, promotions, manager changes, wage adjustments, transfers, and terminations). Provide HRIS system support and troubleshoot employee access issues. Draft and track internal movement letters for promotions, wage adjustments, and other changes. Manage personnel files and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Respond to employment and wage verification requests.

Recruitment & Onboarding

Lead full-cycle recruiting for store and corporate roles, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and extending offers. Manage the new hire pre-employment and onboarding process by ensuring a welcoming and consistent experience for employees at all locations.

Payroll, PTO & Leave

Serve as a backup for payroll processing. Support PTO and timecard management as needed. Administer leave programs (FMLA, ADA, state-specific leaves).

Employee Relations & Compliance

Review and track corrective actions; prepare leadership for disciplinary conversations. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws. Manage unemployment case submissions and tracking. Lead annual EEOC reporting. Support audits as needed.

Benefits & Employee Programs

Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment and ongoing administration. Oversee the Employee Referral Program. Track and analyze results from monthly exit surveys. Partner with leadership on handbook updates and policy reviews.

Leadership Support

Serve as a resource and trusted advisor for store managers and employees. Provide HR insights and complete additional tasks/projects as assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required). Minimum of 3+ years of HR Generalist experience. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification (preferred). Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems, specifically ADP. Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws: MI, OH, IL, KY, IN, AR. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, multi-location environment. Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000 yearly.
