SCADA Applications Engineer

As a SCADA Applications Engineer, you will work on behalf of one of the world's largest renewable energy developers, developing and commissioning software and SCADA systems to control renewable power plants. This role involves extensive travel and requires a strong experience in engineering and automation systems, particularly in SCADA. Responsibilities include integrating, programming, commissioning, and testing power plant SCADA systems and RTUs. You will work with project requirements and specifications to integrate renewable power plants into SCADA systems for controlling power generation onto the utility grid. You will collaborate with in-house resources and sub-suppliers across various disciplines to determine project priorities, achieve milestones, and manage schedules to meet deliverables. You will also design, integrate, program, commission, and test power plant controllers and SCADA for Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Systems. Additionally, you will review and comment on SCADA engineering designs and report daily, weekly, and monthly progress to management. Other job-related duties may be assigned. Essential skills include a bachelor's or equivalent degree in engineering or automation systems, experience in programming and commissioning SCADA systems, excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, knowledge of control system architecture, PLC programs, and SCADA historian, understanding of automation protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, CAN, OPC, EtherNet/IP, and experience in project management handling multiple consultants, vendors, and EPCs. Additional skills and qualifications include familiarity with RTU to RTU interface and programming, understanding schedule and planning, electrical, and communications plan-sets, knowledge of AC and DC circuits and troubleshooting ability, experience with utility meters, substation RTAC, protection relays, knowledge of networking, cyber security, and firewalls, ability to understand SCADA and communication schematics and drawings, familiarity with managed switches, Hirschman's, MOXA, Cisco, etc., 0-10 volt and 4-20 mA loop knowledge and troubleshooting, and third-party firm management experience. This position is in office in Juno Beach, FL with 25% travel required. The role involves working in various environments including standing for extended periods, desk work in front of a computer monitor, and operating a motor vehicle for commuting. The work environment is corporate. The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
