Overview

The City of Bend Police Department is actively recruiting for one (1) full-time Police Training Coordinator. This opportunity is an hourly, (overtime eligible) represented by the City of Bend Police Association. Reporting to the Training Sergeant, the Police Training Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating, supporting, and administering the Police departments training program, ensuring smooth coordination of logistics, content development, and recordkeeping. This position works closely with internal staff to maintain training standards, oversee equipment and certifications, and support onboarding and ongoing professional development. Coordinate and support department training under the direction of the Training Sergeant. Assist in the development and creation of training content, videos, and lesson plans for all police department member training. Coordinate process for the reporting of all police certification changes to the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) and any certifying institutions or agencies. Partner with the Police Department HR Manager to coordinate new employee orientation training. Work closely with department instructors for training management. Maintain all training records. Assist with communication and all logistical coordination for department in-service training. Work closely with training vendors, instructors, and outside departments or institutions that provide training to department members. Coordinate and help manage training contracts with outside agencies and vendors. Coordinate all requests and logistical needs with outside members using department training rooms or the firing range. Administer department training software to ensure training accountability. Is the quartermaster for the department; administers all sworn police officer uniforms and equipment. Assist with equipment and uniform purchasing. Coordinate the replacement schedule of officer bulletproof vests. Coordinate ORPAT (Oregon Physical Abilities Test) as needed for all officer recruitment processes. Maintain regular and substantial contact with others outside own workgroup, including the general public, vendors, partners, and leadership level employees. Provide input on the development of training policies, strategic plans, and program goals/objectives. Coordinate the Veterans Affairs on-the-job training program. Partner with other city departments and programs on City-wide training initiatives. Comply with safety requirements of the position and actively promote safe work practices. In an emergency event or an officially declared State of Emergency, respond as directed to ensure the restoration of essential public services, facilities, and infrastructure. Performs related duties as necessary to achieve the objectives of the position. Qualifications

Education: Associates degree in business administration or a related field. Experience: Two (2) to Three (3) years experience in a similar position with a focus on coordinating large events, managing full training cycle using Learning Management Systems (LMS) technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Required Licenses & Certifications:

Ability to pass the Bend Police Department Background Check. Current and valid Drivers License per City policies outlined in the Employee Handbook. Ability to obtain CJIS Certification within 3 months of being hired.

Desired (but not required) Attributes:

Previous experience working in law enforcement training, including curriculum development, adult learning theory, and instructional design.

Work Environment

This position will be required to work on site/in-person within an office environment. Standard working hours will be Monday-Friday but may have the ability to have a flexible working schedule of 4/10s. Application Details
