Job Summary The Department of Student Media in the College of Communication, Architecture and the Arts (CARTA) is currently seeking a PantherNow Student News Director to join their team of professionals. Duties to include:

Responsible for news coverage at FIU in PantherNOW, The Roar and PantherNOW.com.

Ensures news content is up-to-date on PantherNOW.com and ensures there is a news talk show on The Roar.

Coordinates and assigns a minimum of three Biscayne Bay related news stories a week.

Hires news writers and manages the news department.

Assigns and edits all news stories.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Story-telling skills.

Knowledgeable in InDesign.

Management and team leadership skills.

AP Style writing.

Basic level of Microsoft Word.

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.

During the Summer semesters, students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.

Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.

Work Schedule 10 - 16 hours weekly

Advertised Salary $13.00/hour
