About the Role: The Tool Room Attendant plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the manufacturing process by managing and maintaining all tools and tool kits within the tool room. This position is responsible for the accurate tracking, storage, and distribution of cutting tools and other manufacturing tools, which directly impacts production efficiency and quality. The Tool Room Attendant will oversee inventory control, including purchasing and replenishment, to prevent downtime caused by tool shortages. Additionally, this role involves meticulous filing and documentation to maintain compliance with company standards and facilitate easy retrieval of tools and records. Ultimately, the Tool Room Attendant supports the manufacturing team by providing timely access to the right tools, ensuring operational continuity and safety. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with inventory management and inventory software. Basic knowledge of cutting tools and their applications in manufacturing. Proficiency in filing and maintaining accurate paperwork. Ability to plan and schedule tasks effectively. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a manufacturing tool room or similar environment. Familiarity with purchasing processes and vendor coordination. Certification or training in inventory control or tool management. Strong organizational and communication skills. Responsibilities: Assemble and issue tool kits to the production floor. Manage the receipt, storage, and issuance of cutting tools. Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory software to track tool usage and availability. Purchase new tools and supplies as needed, ensuring optimal inventory levels. Schedule and plan tool room activities to align with production schedules and minimize delays. Skills: The Tool Room Attendant must be proficient in assembling complete and accurate tool kits to support the shop floor. This requires strong attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure each kit contains the correct tools in good condition. Effective inventory management and purchasing skills are essential for monitoring stock levels, placing timely orders, and preventing shortages that could interrupt production. Planning and scheduling skills help align tool availability with production needs, ensuring work can proceed without delays. A working knowledge of cutting tools enables the attendant to identify, select, and prepare the right tools for each job. Additional skills such as vendor coordination and basic mechanical aptitude are valuable for maintaining supplier relationships and handling minor tool issues, further supporting efficiency and reliability in the manufacturing process.
