This position is based onsite at our Deep Eddy Vodka site in Buda, TX. What the Role Is The Environment & Sustainability Manager is responsible for managing environmental compliance programs and ensuring alignment with federal, state/provincial, and local environmental regulations at various Heaven Hill distilling & bottling sites in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, this role leads the Sustainability Team in driving data-driven reporting and communications for water, emissions, waste, and conservation in support of Heaven Hill’s 2030 Environmental Sustainability Strategy. How You Will Spend Your Time? Regulatory Compliance: Maintain environmental regulatory permits and prepare environmental permit applications. Complete required reporting (e.g. air emissions inventories, Tier II, and stormwater monitoring) and ensure proper document retention. Produce and maintain plans and procedures to maintain environmental compliance, including SPCC and SWPPP. Regularly tour assigned facilities to personally inspect operations and communicate with plant personnel, ensuring timely completion of environmental audits. Monitor environmental incidents and assist in investigations to ensure root cause and proper action items are timely completed to reduce risk. Coordinate with environmental agencies during inspections and emergencies, and maintain processes for responding to environmental emergencies. Develop and facilitate training programs or media to promote environmental awareness and meet regulatory requirements. Environmental Sustainability:
Lead the sustainability team in the collection, validation, and analysis of key sustainability data. Oversee the preparation of Heaven Hill’s annual Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory and drive execution of the Scope 3 accounting strategy. Guide team in developing and ensuring timely reporting of applicable sustainability disclosures (e.g. CA CCDAA, Post-Consumer Recycled Content, and Extended Producer Responsibility). Mentor and develop Sustainability team, setting priorities, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring cross-functional collaboration to meet Heaven Hill’s 2030 Environmental Sustainability goals. Provide guidance to Operations in identifying potential upgrades and improvements to equipment and processes to conserve energy and water and minimize waste and emissions. Identify and advise on best practices specific to the distilled spirits industry and recommend procedures and policies aimed at continued conservation of natural resources. Who You Are… Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, engineering, or related discipline Minimum five (5) years’ experience in environmental management or consulting Advanced knowledge of Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and RCRA regulations and requirements Deep understanding of GHG Protocol and carbon accounting standards Must be able to handle high-stress emergency situations Demonstrated people management experience Excellent critical thinking skills and use of logic and reasoning Excellent verbal communication skills and presentation skills Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines Excellent attention to detail when analyzing data and completing regulatory filings Self-starter with ability to work autonomously while functioning well in a collaborative team environment High proficiency with Microsoft Excel Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to assigned Heaven Hill locations Valued but not Required Skills and Experience: Professional sustainability certification Experience with sustainability lifecycle assessment tools or sustainability platforms Knowledge of TPM and continuous improvement principles Previous experience in food and beverage manufacturing Physical Requirements
While performing duties of job, employee is required to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms.
