Job Description:

Summary:

The School of Communication's Office of the Dean is seeking a work study student to provide professional administrative assistance to its Dean's Suite team. This highly visible position works closely with the Assistant to the Dean and the Senior Assistant Dean of Strategic Partnerships & Internal Affairs to provide day-to-day administrative, operations and event support to the Dean and SOC Dean's Office. The position also helps support the School's diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) activities and events. This position serves as an ambassador for the School and its programs.

Responsibilities:

The Student Staff Assistant will be expected to carry out a wide range of functions including: Performing general office duties such as photocopying, word processing, and ordering supplies. Greeting visitors, assisting staff/faculty/students with their inquiries, and answering telephone calls. Providing information orally and in writing to persons seeking information. Proofreading to a high standard. Sorting and distributing incoming mail/packages. Supporting SOC projects and events. Assisting with event set up and break down. Creating, maintaining, and organizing office inventory. Performing any additional duties on special assignments. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Part-Time. Student. Active Federal Work Study award. Salary Range:

$17.95 per hour. Required Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or its equivalent required. Strong word processing and general computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively multi-task. Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines. Excellent oral and written skills. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials. An interest in issues related to DEI. Great attention to detail, especially proofreading and entering data accurately. Preferred Education and Experience:

Social media writing experience. Experience with Graphic Design Programs (InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Canva) is a plus. Knowledge about SOC and its programs. Since this position serves as a School ambassador, candidates who are a SOC major (or intended major) are preferred. Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
