Job Overview: Build Nashville, one of the premier luxury homebuilders in the Southeast, is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to support our growing team. In this role, you'll own the accounting cycle for high-end residential construction projects, ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining cash flow, and delivering clear reporting for leadership, lenders, and clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
    • Receive, log, and process vendor invoices in JobTread (construction software).
    • Code invoices to correct project budgets and cost codes.
    • Coordinate invoice approvals with Project Managers and Owners.
    • Prepare and distribute vendor payments (ACH/check).
    • Manage AP/AR, including client invoicing, draw request processing, and collection follow-up.
  • Project Accounting & Job Costing
    • Set up and maintain financial accounts for each project in JobTread.
    • Track daily transactions and ensure invoice documentation is attached.
    • Perform biweekly budget reconciliations and prepare variance reports for PM review.
    • Move costs between P&L and Balance Sheet as needed.
  • Draw Requests
    • Compile and reconcile 'Unpaid Bills by Job' reports.
    • Prepare client draw packages with invoices, summaries, and supporting documentation.
    • Submit and track draws with lenders or clients, verify disbursements, and log receipts.
    • Maintain master draw schedules and update project cash flow reports.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Maintain strict record-keeping protocols for invoices, payments, draws, and approvals.
    • Archive all financial documents in Dropbox / JobTread per SOP.
    • Ensure processes align with company internal controls and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of accounting/bookkeeping experience (construction or project-based industry preferred).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, JobTread (or similar construction accounting software), and Google Sheets.
  • Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, draw cycles, and reconciliations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with PMs, clients, and vendors.
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in accounting preferred.
