Overview

FORVIA, a leading global technology company in the automotive industry, seeks an IT Technician to join our Columbus, Indiana Research and Development center. In this dynamic role, you will support the daily operations of local IT infrastructure, applications, network systems, and hardware to contribute to the efficiency and success of the plant.

Responsibilities

  • User Support: Provide responsive support for plant users and resolve IT-related issues through the Help Desk system.
  • Device Management: Manage desktop and laptop setups, distribution, and ongoing support.
  • Plant Process Support: Troubleshoot and support network issues, especially with manufacturing execution systems and shopfloor technology; perform Level 1 troubleshooting and escalate when needed.
  • IT Infrastructure Support: Administer and manage IT infrastructure and hardware, including server disk space, OS patching, Windows server management, and backup systems maintenance.
  • Networking: Troubleshoot and manage LAN/Wireless connectivity, including Cisco switches and wireless systems; ensure shopfloor systems are functional and have failover capabilities on a periodic basis.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate with plant leadership and management on IT needs and priorities; monitor and manage local IT budget; assist in maintaining IT KPIs and share knowledge with the IT team; participate in daily plant management meetings; perform other duties as assigned by plant leadership and IT regional management.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, relevant certifications, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Technical Skills

  • Experience in Cisco network troubleshooting and installation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows Server 2019 and above) and Office 365.
  • Familiarity with VMWare and Lenovo network servers.
  • Experience with Cisco wireless networking is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to escalate issues appropriately.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse plant personnel.
  • Previous experience in customer service, ideally in an IT-related role.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to interact with different teams and individuals.
