Your Role: Art Teacher

As an Art Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the creative minds of our students. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Become a Leader: Ensure you are highly qualified and certified to teach in public schools.
  • Be Present: Engage with students from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Supervise and Support: Maintain a safe and enriching environment during class, breaks, and transitions.
  • Participate: Attend events outside of normal school hours, including family nights and student performances.
  • Design Curriculum: Research and document art standards for grades K-4/5-8.
  • Teach Art: Inspire students with engaging art lessons Monday through Thursday.
  • Enrichment Programs: Lead after-school enrichment sessions two days a week.
  • Coordinate: Manage all aspects of the Art program, including vendor relations and record-keeping.
  • Collaborate: Work with classroom teachers to integrate art with core subjects.
  • Engage Families: Involve families in their children’s education through art concerts and events.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in meetings and curriculum development to enhance our programs.
What We’re Looking For

  • A strong commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in urban settings (1-2 years preferred).
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; certification is not required to start but must be pursued.
  • A collaborative spirit and a self-directed approach to learning and improvement.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700, based on experience and qualifications.
