We are seeking a passionate and qualified

Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

to provide

remote instruction and support

to K12 students in New Mexico . The ideal candidate will possess the skills and experience necessary to adapt curriculum, provide direct instruction, and collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments. Key Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction via virtual platforms to students with visual impairments in accordance with their IEP goals.

Adapt and modify instructional materials using accessible formats (Braille, large print, audio, tactile graphics, etc.).

Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, orientation & mobility specialists, and other service providers.

Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring.

Provide consultation to school teams and families regarding accommodations, assistive technology, and accessible educational practices.

Monitor student progress and maintain documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Maintain regular communication with families and school districts.

Attend virtual meetings, trainings, and IEP team meetings as required.

Qualifications:

Valid

New Mexico teaching license

with endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (or eligibility to obtain).

Bachelor's or Masters degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field.

Experience using assistive technology (e.g., screen readers, Braille displays, magnification software).

Knowledge of current best practices for remote instruction and digital accessibility.

Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

Comfortable using virtual teaching platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.).

Reliable internet connection and remote work setup.

Preferred Qualifications:

National certification (e.g., ACVREP) or O&M certification is a plus.

Experience working in diverse, rural, or underserved communities.

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is desirable but not required.
