Flexible schedule with virtual classroom responsibilities to support K12 students during the 20252026 academic year.

Position Summary

Were seeking a passionate and skilled

Teacher for the Visually Impaired

to deliver high-quality, virtual instruction to visually impaired students across Nevada. Your role will involve creating and implementing IEPs, providing Braille and assistive technology instruction, and collaborating closely with families and educational teamsall from your home office. Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and monitor

Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

tailored to each student's unique needs

Deliver real-time virtual instruction in:

Braille literacy

Assistive technologies

(e.g., screen readers, Braille displays)

Orientation and mobility skills

Functional vision

and

independent living skills

Conduct

functional vision assessments , track progress, and adapt instructional strategies as needed Adapt educational materials to be accessible and engaging for visually impaired learners Provide

consultation and training

to parents, general education teachers, and support staff on accessible education strategies Keep accurate and thorough documentationincluding progress reports, IEP updates, and compliance reports Required Qualifications

State Certification : Active Nevada certification as a

Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)

Education : Bachelors degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field

Experience : Minimum 12 years of experience teaching students with visual impairments, preferably in virtual or teletherapy formats

Technical Proficiency : Skilled use of assistive technology tools (e.g., screen readers, Braille displays) and virtual platforms for teaching

Soft Skills : Excellent communication, organization, and independent work skills in a fully remote setting

Preferred Qualifications (Optional but Advantageous)

Masters degree focused on Visual Impairment Education or special education

Certification/endorsement in

Orientation & Mobility (COMS)

or

Deaf-Blind

education

Experience with

transition planning

and vocational preparation for older students

Familiarity with

Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC)

areas such as compensatory skills and independent living

Technology & Workspace Requirements

Stable, high-speed internet connection

Functional webcam and microphone

Quiet, professional home office environment suitable for virtual instruction
