A Virginia-based elementary special education role is available for a skilled professional to provide both push-in and pull-out services to students in grades 3rd through 5th. This contract position spans the current school year and is situated at an elementary school location in Covington, VA.

Valid special education licensure in Virginia: either a Provisional Special Education Licensewith requirements including employment in a Virginia school, mentor support, and an introductory special education courseor a full license upon completion of coursework and meeting state standards. Endorsement achieved through completion of a VDOE-approved special education preparation program or approximately 27 credits in relevant special education coursework covering assessment, collaboration, instruction, IEP development, reading/math strategies, and transition planning. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students with disabilities. Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to address diverse learning needs aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. Conduct assessments and continuously monitor individual student progress. Collaborate closely with general education teachers, families, and support staff to foster an inclusive educational environment. Apply behavior management techniques and inclusive classroom strategies effectively. Ensure strict compliance with all applicable special education laws and policies.
