Full-Time 1099 Contract Position Summary:
We are seeking a licensed and compassionate
Remote School Counselor
to support the academic, career, social, and emotional development of K12 students in a virtual learning environment. The Remote School Counselor will deliver services aligned with the
Michigan Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program
and meet the ethical standards of the
American School Counselor Association (ASCA) , while also complying with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) licensure requirements. Key Responsibilities:
Provide
individual and group counseling
to support students' emotional and social development via secure virtual platforms.
Support students in developing
academic goals, career plans , and post-secondary readiness through remote guidance sessions.
Identify and address barriers to student learning and engagement in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other support staff.
Monitor and support
student attendance, engagement, and well-being , particularly in online and hybrid environments.
Develop and deliver
virtual guidance lessons
on topics such as mental health, conflict resolution, time management, and career exploration.
Conduct
risk assessments
and crisis intervention remotely when students present safety or mental health concerns.
Maintain
accurate records, documentation, and data
to track student progress and program effectiveness in accordance with FERPA and district policy.
Assist in the creation and implementation of
504 Plans
and provide input for IEP teams, where applicable.
Coordinate with community resources and make appropriate
referrals
for additional student and family support services.
Advocate for student success and equity across all backgrounds and learning environments.
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in School Counseling
from a regionally accredited institution.
Valid Michigan School Counselor License or Endorsement
(NT or School Counselor License from MDE).
Familiarity with
ASCA National Model
and Michigan school counseling standards.
Experience working in
remote or online learning environments
is preferred.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills in a digital setting.
Proficiency with virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet), student information systems, and digital counseling tools.
Must maintain a
confidential and secure home workspace
that complies with FERPA and HIPAA standards.
Work Environment:
Fully remote position with flexible scheduling during school hours.
Collaboration with school teams and families via virtual meetings and communications.
Remote working/work at home options are available for this role.
