A Special Education Teacher position is available in an elementary school setting in Norwich, CT for the current school year on a contract basis. This role focuses on supporting students with diverse learning needs by providing tailored instructional strategies and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student.
Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success.
Monitor student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly.
Maintain accurate records related to student performance and behaviors.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to intervention planning.
Qualifications:
Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
Experience working with elementary-aged students in a special education setting.
Strong knowledge of IEP development and special education law.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to differentiate instruction and manage a diverse classroom.
Commitment to student-centered teaching and collaboration with other educators.
