Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in Special Education Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements or training for the assigned subject and grade level Appropriate Special Education endorsements Location: Sheridan, Arkansas Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement instructional plans aligned with system-wide curricular goals and students Individual Education Programs (IEPs) Create, update, and execute IEPs based on ongoing student assessments and diagnostic information Monitor and manage student behavior, utilizing de-escalation techniques and teaching appropriate behavioral strategies; provide restraint when necessary Offer consultation to school staff, teams, and parents on behavior management, learning strategies, and school-wide behavior support Support students with disabilities in personal care tasks such as eating and toileting Establish a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and tailored to the maturity and interests of students Review referral, historical, and assessment data to set goals and objectives for students Prepare special needs students for inclusion in mainstream classrooms and facilitate transitions Use appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet individualized objectives Regularly assess student progress and provide timely reports Supervise and evaluate the performance of teacher assistants Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school's vision and goals Participate in staff meetings, committees, and perform non-instructional duties as assigned by the Principal This contract position spans the full school year and provides the chance to make a meaningful impact on students educational journeys.
