A K-12 school in Star City, AR is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a contract position through the next school year (NSY). This role involves working in both self-contained and resource settings in collaboration with other school personnel to support students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement instructional plans aligned with school curriculum and Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Create, monitor, and update IEPs using diagnostic and assessment data. Manage classroom behavior by maintaining discipline, deescalating inappropriate actions, and teaching behavioral strategies. Provide consultation to school staff, teams, and parents on behavior management, learning strategies, and school-wide supports. Assist students with personal care needs when necessary. Foster a learning environment appropriate to student maturity and interests. Review referral and assessment data to establish goals and objectives. Prepare students for inclusion and transitions to mainstream classrooms. Use instructional methods tailored to achieve individual goals. Regularly assess student progress and provide required reports. Supervise and evaluate teacher assistants. Maintain and improve professional expertise through ongoing development. Participate in staff meetings, committees, and perform non-instructional duties as assigned. Fulfill additional responsibilities as requested by the Principal. Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in Special Education. Valid Arkansas teaching certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsements. Required endorsements or training for assigned subject and level.
