Events & Operations Manager (6299) Job #81036 - Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at UC Berkeley. Leads coordination and implementation of the annual Academy of Distinguished Alumni banquet, including logistical arrangements, catering, parking, AV, registration, sponsorship solicitation, payments, program creation, and communications. Collaborates with Academic Affairs Office to organize career placement functions for Professional Master's degree students (information sessions, industry meetings, career fairs, alumni/student events). Works with the Chair, Vice Chair for Graduate Studies, CEE Academy of Distinguished Alumni, and/or the CEE Advisory Council to implement department, alumni, and student programs and events to engage alumni and donors and current/prospective students. Coordinates department Distinguished Lectures, Departmental Lightning Talks, and special seminars/receptions; handles logistics, publicity, AV, setup/breakdown, reimbursements, and archival materials. Provides strategic input into alumni and external engagement planning; designs outreach initiatives to build long-term relationships; tracks and analyzes engagement data; maintains constituent contact databases; evaluates outcomes and reports for strategy refinement; monitors trends and adjusts tactics accordingly. Develops and implements programs, events, and communications to inform alumni and other constituencies about institutional programs and activities; coordinates marketing for department admissions and programs. Provides administrative support to the Department Manager and Chair; manages front office operations and student staff. Under supervision, supports Professional Master's students by enhancing industry relationships and outreach to alumni/donors; plans and coordinates events (career fairs, info-sessions, industry visits); engages with students on fundraising efforts and coordinates donor/alumni relations. Required Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of building and maintaining effective relations with alumni, internal and key constituencies. Thorough knowledge of UC Berkeley campus mission, programs, and issues of concern. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; tact and political acumen to effectively represent the campus. Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills; good judgment and decision-making; ability to identify problems and propose strategic resolutions. Project management skills, including event planning and meeting deadlines. Knowledge of content management systems or relevant web applications and campus-specific software. Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and industry partners. Customer service orientation and adaptability to change. Demonstrated reliability and punctuality. Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in work quality. Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Salary & Benefits
