Admissions Coordinator
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions, the Admissions Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating admissions and recruitment strategies for the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities and an assigned art discipline. The Admissions Coordinator develops, plans, and executes admissions events and activities. The Admissions Coordinator receives, processes, and responds to prospective students, applications, and families. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions develops and implements discipline-specific recruitment strategies, events, and marketing. Develops and maintains strong relationships with district arts coordinators, arts and ELA teachers, school counselors, and other influencers. Schedules visits and represents the SCGSAH at school visits, career fairs, community organizations and other events to ensure strong general recruitment for the school. Communicates effectively and regularly with all involved stakeholders, including prospective students, parents, employees, and community members. Provides constituent/stakeholder service to prospective students, parents, and other engaged parties. Works with stakeholders to anticipate and resolve concerns. Develops and maintains communication databases for prospective students and parents as well as other stakeholders. Assists with auditions, open houses, visitation days, application processing and response in collaboration with all Admissions staff. In collaboration with the Admissions team, develops strategies to attract and retain a well-qualified, diverse enrollment for the SCGSAH. Collaborates effectively with the SCGSAH stakeholders, including other offices, administration, students, parents, etc. to support the admissions process. Performs other duties as assigned. A bachelor's degree preferably in admissions programs, education, school marketing, public relations, or a related field.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must be able to hear, speak audibly, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. Must possess a valid drivers license. Must be able to work variable hours and shifts, including some weekends. This position requires frequent travel, including overnight travel. Must be available to travel around the state. Travel accounts for approximately 75% of the fall semester, while 25% of the time includes cold calling schools and community organizations, as well as processing application materials. Knowledge of the basic principles and theories of admissions practices and educational administration. Knowledge of laws, policies and procedures affecting enrollment and retention. Knowledge of the arts as a field of study. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public. Ability to identify, develop and implement strategies, programs, and activities that will benefit the campus community and increase enrollment. Experience and training in artistic performance, arts education, and/or the arts as a field of study. An expressed interest and/or artistic investment in one or more of the school's art areas (Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Film, Music, and Visual Arts) is preferred.
