An opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in Mesa, AZ. This position focuses on helping visually impaired students develop the skills necessary to navigate their environment independently and safely. The role is offered as a contract for the current school year (CSY).

Key responsibilities include: Assessing students orientation and mobility needs and developing individualized plans Providing direct instruction in traveling techniques, use of assistive tools, and safety skills Collaborating with teachers, families, and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations Monitoring student progress and adjusting strategies accordingly Conducting assessments to evaluate functional vision and spatial orientation Qualifications and desired experience: Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS preferred) Experience working with K-12 students, especially those with visual impairments Knowledge of mobility aids such as white canes and electronic travel devices Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with multidisciplinary teams Ability to design and implement effective instructional programs Location: Mesa, Arizona (K-12 School Setting) Position Type: Contract for Current School Year (CSY) This role provides a meaningful opportunity to enhance student independence and confidence in various educational environments.
