A position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students in an elementary school setting in North Charleston, SC. This role involves providing 1:1 interpretation services to ensure effective communication and accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing students throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation to facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff
Support academic and social participation during classroom instruction and school activities
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards within educational environments
Collaborate with educators and specialists to meet students individual communication needs
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
Minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.2 required
Strong ability to interpret complex educational content effectively
Excellent communication skills and cultural competence working with children
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
