Key Responsibilities: Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students with visual impairments. Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals addressing unique visual challenges. Teach essential compensatory skills, including Braille literacy, assistive technology use, orientation and mobility (in collaboration with specialists), and daily living skills. Adapt classroom materials to ensure accessibility and provide expert consultation to general education teachers. Collaborate closely with IEP teams, families, and related service providers to promote student success. Travel between school sites as necessary when serving in an itinerant teaching capacity. Qualifications: Possession of a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement. Demonstrated experience working effectively with students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with additional disabilities. This role requires dedication to fostering an inclusive educational environment where students with visual impairments can thrive academically and socially.
