Work full-time as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) supporting K-12 students with vision, hearing, OHI, and cognitive impairments at a dedicated school in Des Plaines, IL. This contract position offers a consistent schedule Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student independence and safety throughout the school year.

Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement orientation and mobility instruction tailored to students individual needs Assess students functional vision and mobility skills to design customized intervention plans Collaborate with teachers, families, and other specialists to support student progress and inclusion Provide training and resources to staff for safe navigation and accessibility accommodations Maintain detailed documentation and progress reports in alignment with educational goals Qualifications and Experience: Valid license as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Proven experience working with students who have vision and hearing impairments Strong understanding of strategies for supporting K-12 learners with diverse sensory and cognitive challenges Excellent communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams Commitment to student-centered education and ongoing professional development Location:Des Plaines, IL serving a K-12 school community specializing in sensory and cognitive impairments.
