This position is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Schaumburg, IL. This is a contract role with a duration covering the normal school year.

Responsibilities: Provide orientation and mobility services to students with visual impairments to enhance their independence and safety. Conduct assessments to determine individual student needs and develop customized instruction plans. Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to implement strategies that support students learning and mobility goals. Utilize specialized techniques and mobility aids to teach travel skills in a variety of school and community settings. Maintain accurate records and progress reports as required. Desired Experience and Qualifications: Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS). Experience working with children and youth in K-12 educational environments. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and educational staff. Ability to develop individualized mobility programs tailored to diverse student needs. Location: Schaumburg, Illinois, serving students in a K-12 school setting. Additional Information: This position is a contract assignment covering the normal school year. More specific details about schedules and caseload will be provided during the interview process.
