A Special Education Teacher position is available for the 25/26 school year at an elementary school located in Sumter, SC. This contract role focuses on delivering specialized instruction within a resource classroom setting to primarily 3rd through 5th grade students. The classroom includes 12 students, featuring one semi self-contained student with high-functioning autism who is verbal. There are no significant behavior challenges in the class.

Responsibilities: Provide individualized and group instruction tailored to the learning needs of students with disabilities. Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in the resource classroom. Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment. Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support students with learning disabilities and other exceptionalities. Track student progress and communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and administrative staff. Maintain classroom management conducive to learning and personal growth. Qualifications: Valid LD (Learning Disabilities) certification or Multi-Categorical Special Education certification. Experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably grades 3-5. Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices. Ability to work onsite full-time, managing a 37.5-hour workweek. Effective communication and collaboration skills.
