A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available to support the RISE program, which serves students in grades 2-4. This program focuses on Reaching Independence Through Supportive Education, catering primarily to students with Autism who have varied support needs. Each student benefits from dedicated 1:1 paras to ensure individualized attention and support.

Responsibilities include: Designing and implementing tailored instructional plans to meet the unique needs of each student Collaborating with paras, administration, and related service providers to create a cohesive educational environment Monitoring and assessing student progress, adapting strategies as necessary Maintaining accurate documentation of student goals and achievements Facilitating communication with families to promote student growth and engagement Upholding a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere Qualifications and desired experience: Valid teaching certification in Special Education Experience working with students on the Autism spectrum, particularly in elementary grades Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams Strong communication and organizational skills Commitment to fostering independence and skill development in students Position Details: Location: Portland, Connecticut Grade Levels: 2nd through 4th Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week Employment Type: Contract for the current school year This role is ideal for educators passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with special needs through dedicated and compassionate instruction.
