The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. Tasks are performed as assigned and may cover various areas of the Store as business needs require.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe shopping environment by staying aware on the sales floor, keeping egress clear, and reporting unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Greet Customers and assist with merchandise and questions in a polite, knowledgeable manner; provide prompt and efficient customer service.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Complete cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restrooms) to maintain merchandise, customer and Team areas.
- Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understand Loss Prevention Awareness program and store protection standards; follow MOS policies for stock and disposals.
- Follow cash handling procedures and process transactions accurately; maintain awareness of bankable tenders.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.
Qualifications and Skills
- Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to use store equipment (PDTs, registers) and stand/walk for extended periods; ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds (some roles may require more).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk and operate store equipment for up to 100% of shift; regular bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Work may require lifting more than 25 pounds; some stockroom shifts may involve lifting up to 20 pounds regularly.
