Baker’s Crust is hiring: Senior Accountant in Virginia Beach

Overview

Baker's Crust, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to work on-site at the Corporate Office in Virginia Beach, VA to engage in the day-to-day accounting and contribute to the weekly, period and annual financial reporting. The Senior Accountant oversees the Accounting Clerk and Accountant and reports to the Company’s executive management. In this role you will develop accounting processes and policies, manage a high volume of daily transactions and ensure financial reports are timely and accurate, enabling management to make key business decisions. In our fast-paced environment, your ability to prioritize accounting, while working with and learning from multiple divisions is critical.

More specifically, the Senior Accountant :

Responsibilities

• Provides accounting and analytic support to the Company's "Baker's Crust Artisan Kitchen" restaurants, and affiliate businesses "The Neighborhood Harvest" home delivery business & "Quemar" restaurant,
• Ensures accurate mapping of the point-of-sale connection with the Company's accounting system,
• Approves corporate level invoices,
• Adds new inventory items to the Company’s inventory management system,
• Executes weekly check runs,
• Reviews and processes bi-weekly payroll,
• Approves all new hires into ADP WorkforceNow,
• Reviews benefits enrollments and communicates changes to the Company’s insurance broker,
• Reconciles monthly bank statements,
• Files monthly sales taxes and reports monthly store sales to landlords,
• Records period close journal entries and engages in the period close process,
• Monitors bakery receivables for unbilled amounts and follows up with bakery on any missing customer billings,
• Ensures collection of bakery and catering receivables,
• Submits annual ABC MBAR filings, health and fire permit filings, quarterly Bureau of Labor Statistics reports, and annual Census Department reports,
• Manages records database and ensures transaction supporting documentation is saved and retained appropriately.

Requirements

• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Accounting
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal ("soft") skills
• Experience with Toast POS, Restaurant365 and ADP preferred
• Must have reliable transportation to and from the Company's office in Virginia Beach
• Must be willing to submit to credit and criminal background screening
