Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of all financial information, including but not limited to financial statements, cash flow forecasts, accounts receivable (if applicable), and income journals for each property assigned. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the Director of Accounting.

- Asset Management- Maintain accurate schedules for all assets and liabilities
- Profitability- Monitor reports for overages compared to budgets; generate timely financial reports to assist operations
- Customer Satisfaction- Respond promptly to inquiries from internal teams, vendors, banks, etc.
- Employee Development- Attend meetings and discuss with operational personnel
Responsibilities
Daily
- Maintain Daily Income Journal
- Check prior day closing Guest Ledger, Advance Deposit, and A/R balances against current day opening balances
- Monitor activity in Accounts Receivable
- Verify cash per Income Journal matches deposit slips
- Note discrepancies on Action Notifications and send copies to relevant personnel
- Post Income Journal and balance cash management module
Weekly
- Review vendor aging reports with accounts payable
- Monitor cash flow for voucher payments
Monthly
- Complete Month-End Closing following the established process
- Prepare standard journal entries with backup
- Generate financial statements: Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Budget-Actual comparisons
- Create Excel reports and cash flow models
- Support balance sheet analysis and general ledger reviews
- Assist with account analysis and support initiatives per the Business Plan
- Prepare sales and use tax filings for properties
- Conduct monthly inventory audits as per policy
Quarterly
Perform quarterly inventory audits following the quarterly process
Yearly
- Prepare Year-End Workpapers according to the Year-End Process
- Review staff accountant year-end workpapers
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for monthly review
- Attend financial meetings and review critiques with operations
- Prepare year-end workpapers for external auditors
- Document, analyze, and improve accounting processes
- Handle annual real estate and personal property tax filings
- File annual business licenses
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Effective communicator with strong organizational skills
- B.S. in Accounting required; CPA or CMA a plus
- 5+ years of experience preferred
- Knowledge of GAAP, tax issues, and USALI 11th Edition
- Ability to motivate staff and multitask effectively
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
