A K-12 educational setting in Westfield, PA is seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time contract position runs from August 20, 2025, through June 4, 2026, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (approximately 6.5 to 7 hours per day, 32.5 to 35 hours per week).
The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate communication between a student who is deaf or hard of hearing and their hearing peers, teachers, and other school staff. Translate spoken English into American Sign Language and vice versa to ensure equal access to classroom instruction and activities. Support effective participation of the student in educational settings. Qualifications/Experience: Minimum Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, OR Full certification (non-provisional) through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). Candidates with previous experience as an ASL paraprofessional may be considered, though certified interpreters are strongly preferred. Experience working in educational environments is beneficial.
