A skilled Sign Language Interpreter is needed to provide essential communication support for a K-12 student who is deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting in Wellsboro, PA. This contract position spans the 2025-2026 school year, from August 20, 2025, through June 4, 2026, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (approximately 32.5 to 35 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities: Facilitate effective communication between the student and hearing peers, teachers, and school staff. Accurately translate spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa. Ensure the student has full access to educational content in an inclusive environment. Qualifications and Experience: Minimum 3.5 Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score OR full certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) (provisional certification not accepted). Experience working as an educational interpreter preferred. Candidates with prior ASL paraprofessional experience may be considered, though certified interpreters are strongly preferred. Ability to work within the specific requirements of educational settings for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
