An opportunity is available to support a 1st-grade student in an elementary school setting as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time contract position involves providing effective communication access throughout the school day, Monday through Friday, for approximately 6-7 hours daily.

Key Responsibilities: Facilitate accurate and clear interpretation of classroom instruction, interactions, and school activities for a 1st-grade student using American Sign Language (ASL). Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure the students communication needs are met. Maintain confidentiality and promote an inclusive, supportive learning environment. Assist with the students integration into classroom and social activities as needed. Attend meetings and training sessions related to the students educational plan and interpreter best practices. Desired Qualifications and Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills. Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred, specifically with young children. Ability to work collaboratively with educators and support staff. Patience, adaptability, and excellent communication skills. Understanding of early childhood education environment is a plus. Location: Elementary school located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
