Position Summary:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, analysis, and delivery of high-performance mechanical systems across diverse building, infrastructure, and industrial projects. Combining technical expertise with project leadership, this role ensures engineering solutions meet stringent performance, safety, sustainability, and budget requirements. The Lead Mechanical Engineer mentors junior engineers, drives cross-disciplinary collaboration, and provides strategic input to optimize system design and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and analysis of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and industrial mechanical applications.
Prepare, review, and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and detailed calculations to ensure technical accuracy.
Ensure all designs and deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, etc.), and client requirements.
Collaborate effectively with electrical, structural, civil engineers, and project managers to deliver fully integrated design solutions.
Perform field investigations, site inspections, and surveys to verify existing conditions and monitor construction quality.
Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and career development opportunities for junior engineers and designers.
Lead client meetings, technical presentations, and project review sessions to communicate progress and solutions.
Manage mechanical engineering project scopes, schedules, deliverables, and budgets, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide technical guidance throughout construction phases.
Proactively identify opportunities for innovation, energy efficiency improvements, and cost-saving measures.
Stay current with industry codes, regulations, technologies, and best practices to maintain competitive expertise.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (required).
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (candidates within 6-12 months of licensure considered).
Minimum 8+ years of experience in mechanical systems design and project leadership.
Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system design for building and industrial applications.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and engineering calculation tools.
Strong working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, IMC, IPC, and other applicable mechanical codes.
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, etc.).
Demonstrated leadership, project management, and communication skills.
