Performs under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare professional. Assists the surgical team in the preoperative and perioperative phases of patient care in the operating room; possesses the skills and knowledge to identify and collect all necessary equipment, instruments and supplies for a wide variety of surgical procedures; assists in the preparation of the surgical suite; identifies plans for and implements instrumentation for select surgical procedures; performs as assistant to the surgeon during surgical procedures; ensures sterile and aseptic technique are maintained within the surgical environment; enhances own professional growth and development through attendance at in-services, staff meetings and professional education programs.

Responsibilities

Assist the surgical team in the preoperative and perioperative phases of patient care in the operating room.

Identify and collect all necessary equipment, instruments and supplies for a wide variety of surgical procedures.

Assist in the preparation of the surgical suite and plan instrumentation for select procedures.

Serve as an assistant to the surgeon during surgical procedures and maintain sterile and aseptic technique in the surgical environment.

Engage in ongoing professional growth through attendance at in-services, staff meetings and professional education programs.

Qualifications

Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).

High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma with at least two semesters in an approved surgical technologist program and completion of two semesters of clinical experience.

Note: Degrees must be granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as acceptable educational practices.

Compensation and Benefits Salary range for this position is $61,860-$73,634 annually which includes a comprehensive benefit package. The listed pay range reflects the range of potential compensation for this role. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
