Overview
Under the direction of a qualified physician, the MRI technologist will operate a variety of equipment, including a high field strength magnet, RF transmitter, RF receiver and computer. Under general supervision, the incumbent will independently perform MRI examinations using the established exam protocols. The MRI Technologist will be responsible for the acquisition, post processing, and archiving of all patient data. The individual will maintain and operate equipment according to manufacturers' operation manual. The technologist will comply with department protocols, UCDHS Policies and Procedures, Department of Radiology Policies and Procedures and other applicable workrules and regulations. The technologist must act with initiative and responsibility to achieve maximum radiographic quality. All duties and responsibilities will be performed calmly in stressful situations and interact with radiologists, clinicians and peers in a cooperative, harmonious manner for maximum effectiveness. Incumbent must be able to perform all job functions deemed by the Department of Radiology MRI. This position may perform duties in the Main Hospital, Ambulatory Care Center and/or satellite facilities throughout UCDs Primary Clinic Network as deemed necessary by management. Responsibilities Operate MRI equipment and perform MRI examinations following established protocols. Acquire, post-process, and archive patient data; ensure data integrity and quality control. Maintain equipment per manufacturer manuals and safety standards. Adhere to department and institutional policies and procedures; interact professionally with radiologists, clinicians and peers. Work in a calm, cooperative manner in potentially stressful environments. May rotate through Main Hospital, Ambulatory Care Center and satellite facilities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of valid ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and/or valid CRT with one or more years demonstrated MRI experience I.V. Certification American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR No Minimum Education required Contrast Administration experience required Competent in archiving, retrieving and exceptions handling with the PACS system Knowledge of MRI scanners and PACS; able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades Ability to move and operate equipment, transfer patients (up to 500 pounds with assistance), and move supplies up to 45 pounds Ability to operate a computer for data entry and complete tasks efficiently
