Overview
RN Supervisor Surgical Telemetry – Full-time Nights. 36 hours per week. 5N Surgical Telemetry unit, Atrium Health Mercy, a 196-bed facility of Carolinas Medical Center. Benefits eligible.
Pay Range $43.30 - $64.95
About the Unit 5 North is a 26-bed General Surgery specialty unit. We are a Med-Surg Unit with heavy surgical volume. We specialize in:
Elective bariatric weight loss surgery; patients are typically ambulatory on post-op Day 0.
General surgery — appendectomies, cholecystectomies, small bowel obstruction, etc.
Foot and ankle ortho — total ankle replacements, infected foot wounds, BKA, etc.
Urology surgery.
A Nurse on our unit will gain experience in drains, wound vacs, central lines, NGT, DHT, and other surgical care.
Job Summary Responsible for the direct provision of patient care and for assisting the manager with daily operations to include coordination of patient care/outcomes, allocation of resources, communications, patient throughput, program development and oversight, patient, physician and employee rounding, staff selection, development and retention, clinical supervision and performance appraisal, performance improvement activities, service recovery, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Maintains clinical and professional competency appropriate to the population served.
Essential Functions
Supports the manager in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and service delivery within the department.
Assists with interview, selection, and supervision of nursing personnel.
Facilitates communication through regular staff meetings/huddles to exchange information and promote dialogue.
Ensures understanding and compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
Rounds on patients, teammates, and physicians to assess patient care and department operations.
Delegates care to appropriate staff within legal and policy parameters.
Assists in identifying expected outcomes and directing continuity of care and department operations.
Evaluates progress toward goals and disseminates information to involved teammates.
Performs nursing care, assists with treatments and medications as necessary.
Coordinates patient flow and staffing based on volume and acuity.
Physical Requirements Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support up to 35 pounds. Must speak and understand English fluently. Must have intact senses and good dexterity. Critical thinking and concentration required.
Education, Experience and Certifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current RN licensure in the appropriate state. Minimum two years nursing experience preferred; previous management experience preferred. BSN required. RN candidates without BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year of hire/transfer and complete within 3 years. BLS required. Professional certification within 1 year of eligibility for exam.
